More than 20 local businesses and community partners join Clean Living Magazine to give three elementary school communities a family-first Halloween afternoon on October 31
PALO ALTO, Calif. — October 15, 2026 — Clean Living Magazine will host Boo on the Block, a Halloween festival for local families, on Saturday, October 31, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at a private residence in Palo Alto. The festival is open to families from local elementary schools and the wider community. More than 20 local businesses, makers and community organizations are contributing treats, activities, shopping, prizes and services.
Built by the community
Boo on the Block began as a single neighborhood gathering and grew as local partners asked to take part. Clean Living Magazine is volunteering its event production for the schools, and a local PTA is offering festival spots through its Just Parties fundraising program.
Local businesses are filling the afternoon with:
Treats and drinks — coffee for parents and spooky drinks for kids from Aurora Coffee Co., kids' beverages from No Biggie and Recess, and cake pops and chocolate-covered pretzels from Sweets by Marlsss
Hands-on activities — pumpkin gem decorating with Play & Create Events, a patch station from Luna's Patch + Press where guests customize denim or canvas pieces, kids' soap making with SM Soaps & Candles, and an activity from YBrows Beauty & Cosmetics
Pop-up shopping — La Source Salonaire by Twila LaDon presents a pop-up shop of curated vintage finds and home goods
Art and fun — live painting by artist Ali Hall, a "Haunted Alley" walkway, music, trick-or-treating and a photo bus
Books and keepsakes — for the first 25 kids, a free copy of Sofia's Village from local author Jaime McFaden and a custom tote bag from San Benito House
Prizes and gifts — costume contests for kids and adults with prizes from Lil Olives and Oka's Car Care, a best mom costume package from Beauty Crush and Glow San Carlos, skincare gifts for moms from Oyu Botanica, a sample for every mom from Évea, and gift bags from Extraordinary Smile
Behind the scenes — Royal Restrooms of CA donated restroom facilities, and Hopper.dev, Pretty Mama Breastfeeding, Financial Literacy for All and Jennifer Ho Cosmetics are contributing partners
Community partners including the Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce and Bay Area Kids GO are helping share the festival with local families.

"This festival exists because our neighbors showed up — parents, schools, small business owners and makers who said yes before we even finished asking," said Cassandra McClure, founder and editor-in-chief of Clean Living Magazine. "Halloween is one of the few nights a whole neighborhood steps outside together. We wanted to give our school families a safe, beautiful afternoon to do exactly that."
